Is Diabetes fatal? How long does the person live?
Question:
Answers:
No, it is not fatal.
The treatment depends on the severity. Two of my aunts had it and they live long lives.
Other Answers:
In and of itself, diabetes isn't fatal. It can, however, lead to other diseases, such as heart disease and kidney failure, which ARE fatal.
very controllable, only really bad and hard to live with if it is realllllly bad, but even in that case it is treatable to be able to maintain it at a okay level!
no, if medically managed you can live a long time with it.
As long as the person controls it.
Diabetes isn't fatal if you take the right precautions, good diet, monitoring your blood sugar, it can, however be fatal if you are not responsible, you could get really sick, go blind, lose limbs, and even go into a diabetic coma.
It is not really fatal if you know how to take care of it. Again you can probably live up to your 80-90's if you take care of yourself.
diabetes is a very serious illness and without proper medication it can be fatal ,but if you take care of your self ,eat right and take your medication and see your doctor when you are suppose to then you can live a long healthy life
diabetes can be fatal, if you don't follow your doctors orders, such as take your medicine, watch your diet, exercises. get your proper rest, no alcoholic drinks.
i have brother and sister who has it and she is 48 and he is 51 years old.
can be fatal if not correctly controlled. High blood sugars can cause severe organ damage, heart distress and coma. Low blood sugars can cause coma as well (insulin shock). the key is to maintain you blood sugars, eat healthy, or at least the best you can, and try to get some excersize. 18 million people in america have diabetes, and it will onlycontinue to get worse wiht poor diets and no excersize. We all pay for health care costs for this by the way of premiums.
It can be if you don't take care of your self.Eat right & exercise a lot.

My Mom has had diabetes for 40 years. It really depends on how well it is controlled how long a person lives.
it is not fatal. if well-controlled, patients can live lnog, healthy lives. i have an 88 year-old diabetic male patient; has been a diabetic for many years. (i'm a healthcare provider) I also have folks in their 40s who look like they're 60 because they have chosen to live their lives in such a way as to put themselves at risk. then again, maybe their diabetes is different or worse or more difficult to control. (Judge not lest ye be judged.) however, i am firmly convinced that diabetics have great control of their health and their prognosis by how compliant they are, how often they go for follow-up appointments, and how well they work to prevent complications.

I was diagnosed when I was 11 years old back in 1961. I am now 56 and am living a very good life! If you do what you are told (take your insulin (if you are insulin dependent), check your blood 4-6 times a day, see the doctor regularly, take care of your feet, your eyes) then you should be able to live a long and healthy life.
Caution, though, if you don't take care: I have known people who have lost their toes, then their feet.or had kidney failure.simply because they were in denial and refused to take care and follow their doctor's instructions.
Diabetes is a disease, but it CAN be controlled. Control it.don't let it control YOU.
Diabetes isn't fatal. However, the condition and its complications can shorten people's lives as much as thirty years. With proper care and treatment, a diabetic person can live a long, healthy life.
Diabetes can be fatal only if the person with it doesn't take care of themselves. If a diabetic takes good care of themselves and of their diabetes, they can live as long as people without it.
Can be. If you go end renal and your kidneys shut down you can definitely die. If you don't go end renal you can live a long life. If you do, you will be told about transplants and dialysis. Transplants can give you many additional years. However, five years is average. Dialysis can give you twenty to thirty years or you could die immediately. Add to that, dialysis has a lot of side effects. In the end, we all die. That is not what you should think about . You should accept that you have high blood sugar and that it will most likely create other problems if you don't treat the situation seriously. Control your diet, exercise and see your doctor and hopefully death will be a long time coming.
A diabetic can live a long and fruitful life.
