Why is there euthanasia for animals but not humans?
Question:
Answers:
because we choose to treat out pets better than our loved ones
Other Answers:
cuz humans dont want to be the ones being euthanized. If dogs ran the world, there'd be no euthansia for dogs, but there would for humans.
It is available to humans but not in all countries, and it's very controversial in the case of humans. However, if it's your pet, then nobody cares as long as you do it for their sake. But if it's a human, everyone is going to give you problems if the human can't speak for themselves. because we treat our pets better.
it's a religious/ethics issue. it's kind of a "God gave life, no one should end it but God" issue.
Because animals are not seen as equal to humans. This, implicitly, is related to how our society regards humans as having souls, but not animals. In addition, there are legitimate concerns that people who are old and can no longer express their wishes may be euthenized solely to save money, time, etc. when they are still otherwise healthy and, among other concerns. There is also an implicit belief for some people that suicide is a sin, and killing yourself before it is your time is horrific, regardless of the situation.
Very illustrative of this is Terri Shaivo. Remember her? She was brain dead without possibility of recovery (her brain was pretty well mangled), even though she could still breathe and react to stimuli in a basic manner. These people who don't want euthanasia ptried to prevent pulling the plug on someone whom the medical establishment actually considered dead. It should be. When somebody is suffering that much that they can't stand it and it's a terminal condition. But there are so many things that are between this. Religion, for example, they think God is the one to decide if somebody lives or dies. Another thing is because it could be used to kill somebody without authorization or need claiming it was for compassion, but I think this one can be solved with law.
