this is about acne. we have gotten my child proactive.?
Question:
Answers:
Proactive's active ingredient is benzoyl peroxide which will kill the bacteria, but doesn't help blackheads. Blackheads are not caused by dirt, they are caused by dead skin cells and oil mixing together in the pore. The proactive skin care line has that toner which should help exfoliate away the dead skin cells so that they don't clog the pores. But that won't help with the pores that are already clogged. I would recommend a facial with a peel. Peels will take off a few layers of dead skin cells and help clear away the clogged pores. Many dermatology offices have medi-spas that preform acid peels. Don't let your child over wash his/her skin and make sure he/she moisturizes his/her face. Dry skin will hold onto the clogged pores because it thinks that it is getting moisture from the oil in the clogged pores. When the breakouts have cleared up your child should use proactive only a couple times a week to prevent acne. Long term proactive use it too drying and abrasive. Try a gentle skin care line in between like Cetaphil or Purpose.

neutrogena has some good over the counter stuff, works for me. but you really need to stay on top of it when you use it or else you wont get the full potential of the product.
Blackheads are caused by dirt getting in the pores. So your kid needs to wash their face at least twice a day. Change pillowcases 2 times a week. And exfoliate after a hot shower when pores are open.
If you’re looking for accurate acne information, best to see a dermatologist. Some people believe doctors are predisposed to take the easy way to deal with acne… prescription drugs. But, with many, this simplistic answer may not be the appropriate course of action. Some feel that such prescription drugs just treat the symposium and not the underlying cause. But, a local dermatologist is still your best starting point.
For me personally, I discovered a great informational acne treatment site. Not only is there good information/articles but I got their audio e-book and following it’s advice can now say that my acne is a thing of the past! Keep in mind, were all different and there are various types of acne, so what works for some may not be totally effective for all.
Bottom line, hang in there, you will get past this! Sincere best wishes and good luck.
Oh, by the way the site that helped me is:
