How Long does cellulituis last?

Question:
I HAVE BEEN TREATED 3 TIMES FOR CELULITUS ON MY LEG. IT WILL NOT CLEAR UP. I HAVE BEEN TO THE DR. 4 TIMES AND HAVE BEEN GIVEN ANTIBIOTICS. THE LEG IS STILL RED. IT HAS STARTED TO BURN, WHERE THE REDNESS IS.

Answers:
There are many factors that contribute to poor wound healing. First and foremost, is has anyone cultured the bacteria to identify the pathogen which is almost always a Staph infection. MRSA is a resistant form of Staph that is resistant to Penicillin antibiotics. Medicnes such as Bactrim, Doxycycline, Clindamyacin, and Vancomyacin will kill the bacteria whereas medicines like Augmentin and Keflex will not work due to resistance.

Second, if you are elderly, severely overweight, or diabetic, your ability to heal naturaly is compromised due to vascular insuffency. Ask your doctor.

Finally, if close contacts have infections, they must be treated also. Consider seeing a Infectious Disease Specialist.
