herpes cannot give you hiv they are 2 different viruses - but herpes can make you very ill and even kill you if you have a weakened immune system depending on the strain. you need to speak to a dr or contact you local county health clinic for an STD awareness course.

Just because you have one std doesnt mean you cant get another. Now herpes doesnt give you more or less of a risk of getting HIV but its not going to form into that. You need to have safe sex if you are going to have it at all. I would think since you already have 1 std you would protect yourself.
