About asthma?

I could get really technical and talk cellular reactions that result in bronchoconstrictions, but to keep it simple, asthma is a disease charaterized by increased reactivity of the trachea and bronchi to various stimuli resulting in bronchoconstrictions, increased mucus production, and mucosal tissue swelling. One of the most common causes of these reactions is allergies. It makes perfect sense that you have "seasonal asthma" being as you are probably allergic to something in the environment at that time of the year. You should get checked for what it is you may be allergic to you, flowers, leaf mold, mild dew, etc. The most effective treatment in allergy related asthma is prevention. Find out what you are allergic to and keep away from it if possible. You may need to take Intal, or leukotriene modifiers or corticosteriods. But hopefully a short-acting beta agonists should help (albuterol), but if you find yourself using this 3-4 times every day, day after day, you should check for longer lasting drugs. And find out what you are allergic to!!

I have asthma and tend to do better during the hot dry spring and summer than I do in the winter.
no it is no such thing as seasonal asthma, but seasons can trigger your asthma. if you have asthma, then you have it forever. and it is a very serious disease. it is when you have a mucus build up in the lungs, and triggers are what makes the mucus build up. the doctor gives you respiratory supplies like an inhaler. or steroids to help your lungs. if you have seasonal allergies those allergies can be a trigger to your asthma. and cause your asthma to get its worse around those months. and if those allergies were around year round then you'll have a problem.
Your seasonal allergies could be triggering seasonal asthma. My asthma only bothers me during certain times of the year.

Seasonal asthma, no. Seasonal allergies, yes. Allergies are a big cause of asthma attacks for me, and are for many people. Whatever triggers your allergies may be triggering your asthma as well, resulting in "seasonal asthma".
