I ordered a spicy chicken sandwich from Wendys and It was half raw. I ate some of it before noticing that the rest of the sandwich was raw. What is the possibilities of getting sick?

Answers:
It depends on whether the chicken is contaminated with salmonell bacteria. Not all chicken. (in Sweden none of it is), it dpends upon whether the chicken was truly raw. It wight have been cooked just enough to kill the bacteria but not cooked enough to be appatising. It also depends upon the number of bacteria that you injested, if there were any and they were alive. You just might be resistant to the strain of Salmonella. Salmonella takes 48 hours incubation before you exhibit symptoms. The bacteria are ingested then transit the stomach and then start to proliferate (i.e. divide), the bugs produce a toxin that causes the symptoms, and trouble. As little as 200 organisms can cause a case of salmonellosis. You may not have ingested that amount or you may be resistant to that particular Salmonella strain. Or you may come down with food poisoning. Most cases resolve their symptoms in 48-72 hours. IGet plenty of rest, avoid milk products which are hard to digest. Potato soup is good for rehydration and electrlytes, gatoraide is second best. Gravol suppositries may be advisable for extreme nausea. If the distress continues without lessening or resolution of symptoms, beyond that time get medical attention. the doctor may use a tetracycline antibiotic, such as minocycline, tetracycline, doxycycline, etc. (perhaps even rehydration in extreme cases. If you are 65+ years, or very young go see a doctor now.

6 hours onset is not Salmonella. \Staphylococcus, Bacillus cereus. (Chinese restaurant contaminated rice poisoning, and heavy metal poisoning happen, (exotic poisons), in as little as 6 hours & almost nothing else works that quickly.

not sure what the %'s are, but I am sure that you will know within 48 hrs. Nausea, vomiting, fever, and cramping will start between 6-48 hours for salmonella.
