There's a salve called I believe "drawing salve" that you put on a boil and it makes the inner infected core come out.
Go to a pharmacist and ask them.
Magnesium from the the chemist, draws the infection out. Othterwise go to your doctor and he/she will probably prescribe you antibiotics. Don't try and lance it yourself or it may scar. Sounds silly, but try ProActive. I did and it really helps, makes your skin a bit oily, but is worth it. Now I take minocycline and it clears me up no problem. Ask your doctor to recomend something. It's not that expensive (30-40 bucks) and your friend won't regret it!!
put a hot washcloth as hot as he can stand it on there.to try to bring out the pus..and you could break open an egg.get the skin from inside the shell and put it on the boil.it will dry pu helping to bring out the pus
Good Luck!
