If anyone had or had experience w/ excema.?

Question:
Im 15 and i still get it around my mouth and like random spots on my legs and arms, my doctor says not to eat sugar or dairy, but is there any creams or anything that has worked but isnt a steroid. and if u grew out of it at what age did it go away? its better than it was when i was around 12, but does it ever go away?

Answers:
Aloe vera gel , apple cider vinegar or vitamin E oil can be effectively used on the affected skin. More cheap and natural remedies for itching at http://www.wellnesstalk.org/itching.html...
i had this same problem and i'm also 15. To fully get rid of it, you need to use a steroid cream. Or, what also worked really well for me is a plain cortizone cream without any added preservatives. I hope I helped, I know how frusterating excema is!

I would suggest going to a dermatologist for perscription cream.
my friend jeff claimed to have excema, I think it was just a clever excuse to keep vaseline close to his bed
I have a daughter that had such a bad case of eczema that she would bleed and it kept her up at night. She was taken to a dermatologist and given creams to help. She was also taken to an allergist and there we found out what to avoid and what to watch out for that would trigger her eczema.

I used this stuff called dermatech that helped tremendously. Here's the website http://www.dermatechrx.com/
The wash gave her so much relief and calmed her eczema and it isn't a steroid. She's now just maintaining and occasionally have to use the steroid creams.

She's never going to outgrow it but it can be controlled. Hers was triggered also with hormonal changes. As I stated before, she is seeing both a dermatologist and allergist. Her pediatrician is fine but for something like that a specialist is what is needed.

Drink plenty of fluids. It's amazing how that can help. I notice a difference if she doesn't drink enough. It's good for your skin. It is so important to also moisturize your skin. Do your routine day AND night. Good luck and keep your chin up. You aren't the only one with this problem. I also have eczema and doing all of these have kept mine under control. In fact, people don't even know I have eczema. Before it can become a problem, I do all those things that I told you about.
I was born with ezcema and now im 21. When i was little i would get it all on my face, arms, and legs. It was so bad that when my mum was breastfeeding with me, if she ate the tinest bit of cheese i would break out. Thats how bad it was.
The worst spots to get it is on the back of your knees and the inside part of your arms opposite your elbows. My eczema was due to dairy foods. if i ate cheese flavoured chips i would break out. Its terrible but now im 21 and i have grown out of it. ( and to see how bad i was when i was little its amazing it went away) The best thing to do is use cortisone creams. wash the affected area and use cortisone. make sure your skin is always moisturised. DONT let it dry out that is when it can get worse. After showers, swimming, moisturise!! Also Clorine can agrivate the affected areas so if you do have to swim make sure you have a shower straight away after getting out.
When showering or using moisturizers use unperfumed and non alchoholic products, alchol and perfumes will dry out your skin. Here in australia there are some really good products one brand is QV, this is used for all those skin conditions and for generally dry skin. This stuff i couldnt live without. it comes in soaps and crems for all dry related skin conditions.
Check it out and see if you have it where you live. or try and find a similar product.
Dont scratch this will make it spread and become worse.
instead use cold items to stop the itchy-ness. ( you can use cold water but make sure to moisturise.)
One more thing i can suggest is, when going to bed make sure your not to hot or have to many clothes on as when you sweat the area behind your knees and arms can become really bad and you scratch in your sleep. make sure your at a comfotable temp. Heat will make it worse
Also of course stay clear of foods such as dairy, and it will clear! i have lived on soymilk all my life i have never had cheese or milk. i eat yogurt as this doesnt affected me. i think this has to do with the way it is made.
If your unsure of what foods will affect you, you can get a skin test for allergens. or a cheaper way is to cut out all dairy foods and sugars then introduce one item for a couple of weeks if you get eczema this is the food that you are allergic to cut it out and then the following week try a different food.

Steroid creams are not bad if you use small amounts. when doing the right things as ive mentioned above with a good diet it will clear. and depending on you, you may grow out of it and you may not.

I've had eczema for most of my life . What I've found is it can be managed .
Try to pay attention to what sets it off and try to avoid stress as it can irritate it.
Is your doctor telling you not to eat dairy because you are allergic? Allergies can play a role in eczema for sure.
For my own eczema I take a bath and add a cup of milk to the bath water as it gives skin moisture and the lactic acid in milk softens your skin.
Avoid harsh detergents and heavily scented things . You can try the dove sensitive skin bar and body wash .
When you use lotion avoid ones with water and alcohol as those are irritating to some people.
Go for cream such as Eucerin calming cream or moisturizers that are oil based . It is not a steroid and is widely availible .
For the skin to completly reform it takes about a month so be patient .
Taking a flax or borage seed oil supliment can help too. It heals your skin from the inside
Good luck
