What is a humans normal white blood cell count?

Question:
my dad was just diagnosed with chronic lymphatic leukemia (CLL) i am very scared since there is no cure, but i don't know alot about the diesease and i know his white blood cell count is 40,000 i was wondering how bad is this number.

Answers:
That is very high for someone. I am sorry to report that, However more importantly, you need to know his red cell count.

I am hoping for the past for your father. There may not be a cure but there is a remission. That is at least good news. White cells let you know how high an infection can be in a person'a body. Usually anything over the 11,000 is an infection. That is about all the white cells can tell you. Other tests can reveal much more. Ask you Dad for more information or consult with the physician with your Dad's permission.
normal range for TLC varies from 4000 to 11000. just a high TLC count does not indicate severity of the condition. there are many other factors...
