4 year daughter has had frequent loose stools.?

Question:
Been about 10 days. Stools are loose not watery. She goes about 5 times a day. Doctor said that she probably has a stomach bug. Can children at this age get IBS? What foods would be good to perhaps be more "binding"?

Answers:
Is she drinking lots of juice? My daughter began having problems when she was about 3. Doctor didn't find anything and this was her only symptom. It turns out she was just drinking too much juice at day care. Once we restricted her juice intake, things returned to normal.
It's possible she has IBS; it's also possible she may be allergic to some of the foods she is eating (for example, she may have a wheat allergy). It's also possible she caught a bug.
Get your daughter to her pediatrician to make sure. She may just need to 'ride the bug out', and if it's an allergy, you can start treating it.

Good luck to your daughter!
Stay away from soda and foods with nutrasweet and high fructose corn syrup
More vegetables, cereals and fruit. Get her off the sugar and make sure shes not ingestinga spartame in any form (which includes bubblegums, diet soft drinks etc)
feed tea in her diet...works for calves in the scours stages, I drink it to tighten up...why not her
my daughter had this problem and it turned out to germ in the bowel,a treatment of one pill fixed it right up
