My boyfrind passes out and were still not sure Y.?

Question:
My boyfriend lifts weights about 2 hours every morning. So he is very healthy. However today I was cutting his hair and he passed out he felll of the stool and hit his head. He was out for atleast a min. He went to the hospital by ambulance because I panic very easy. His heart rate was 45 to 55 which is very low. they say thats norm for fit people. I'm not sure if thats true or not and they never really told us what the cause was. Does anyone have any ideas! Please

Answers:
A slow heart rate for a fit person is normal, but that doesn't mean that just because he's fit that it's normal for him. It possible that the low heart rate is to blame. If his rate drops to low, than his blood pressure may drop too low. He needs to see a cardiologist or demand a Holter monitor. It could turn out to be nothing, but you never know.
drugs
I thought the heart rate stayed up for fit people.
Did they test his blood sugar and iron level?
Did he eat earlier that day. If he didn't eat enough, he may have fainted from not having enough energy, especially after working out htat long. He may also be anemic, my sister is and she passes out often. Hope this helps at all.
maybe he hasnt been eating much..
It could have been gas in the stomach, a common cause for fainting.
Steroids!
How about his blood pressure? My brother went through this phase where he passed out a lot - he was just generally really exhausted and weak too though - and his blood pressure was 60/30. We never did figure out why, but the doctors put him on high-salt diet, and had him drink lots of gatorade. He's been healthy since (10 years) :)

Oh, he was super-active, with a low pulse, too - he was 13 then.

A minute is a long time to pass out, though... I think an ambulance was a good idea! Well, I hope everything works out, and he's okay!
