Answers:
It is said that your dentist is your first line of defense for heart disease and mouth disorders. Most likely your dentist saw this and thought nothing of it.

I had pain in my jaw and neck and went to my dentist since I had had X-Rays by him a week before. Well, he took $200 more worth of X-Rays and said my problem wasn't dental. A week later I was in the hospital with a heart attack.

See your primary doctor, soon.
sounds like you have an ulcer nothing sinister
Sounds like you burnt or cut the roof of your mouth and it has got infected.
But like so many questions here the answer is go see a doctor! why have you waited so long?
he probably didn't notice it or thought you may have an ulcer or burnt your mouth. Nothing serious if he didn't say anything.
You should contact your doctor immediately. It could be oral cancer. According to mayoclinic.com (a very reliable medical website)"An early indication of oral and throat cancer is one or more changes in the way the soft tissues of your mouth usually look or feel. Signs and symptoms may include:

A sore in your mouth that doesn't heal or increases in size
Persistent pain in your mouth
Lumps or white, red or dark patches inside your mouth
Thickening of your cheek
Difficulty chewing or swallowing or moving your tongue
Difficulty moving your jaw, or swelling or pain in your jaw
Soreness in your throat or feeling that something is caught in your throat
Pain around your teeth, or loosening of your teeth
Numbness of your tongue or elsewhere in your mouth
Changes in your voice
A lump in your neck
Bad breath
Most oral cancers arise on the lips, tongue or on the floor of the mouth. They also may occur inside your cheeks, on your gums or on the roof of your mouth."
Check out Mayoclinic.com and search "oral cancer", and definitely discuss it with either a dentist or doctor. Here's the link:
It could even be candidiasis (thrush) but do get it checked out Good luck
Oral cancer doesn't grow very fast. In other words, if it was cancer, that area of your mouth would't have gone from nothing, to a small red spot, lump, no lump, flat white area all in a period of 3 weeks.
That being said, you can give it another couple of weeks and see if it heals on its own or make a quick stop at the dentist so he can take a look.
