What about this... Is it possible for a group of 20 CLEAN people to get an STD if they have unprotected sex with each other and keep switching partners?
And I do apologize if this question offends anyone. I hope it doesn't. I'm just trying to get an understanding here..

i understand exactly what you're asking. you're asking a similar question such as "where did HIV originate from?" did it come from monkeys? etc etc. i'm not really sure exactly where STDs come from, but there are some people out there that develop very strange conditions, do you think lung cancer just came out of nowhere? do you think lymphoma or diabetes just came out of nowhere? they're defects in human bodies, think about STD the same way, sexually transmitted diseases must've originated from someone from somewhere, but the answer is, we honestly don't know, but what we do know is that it can be prevented.
now if a group of 20 clean people have sex, and swap partners no you won't get an STD, you'll probably get an infection if you're not clean about it.
also understand that everybody's bodies are different, we live in different environments, so when we exchange body fluids we can get sick, but that doesn't mean it's an STD or an STI.
Basically, no, with one proviso:
Some sexually transmissible diseases can also be caught in other ways that don't involve sex.
But the infection has to be already present in one person in the population before it can spread to anyone else, no matter how many times people are having sex.
It can't just appear from nowhere, although often people aren't aware they are carrying an STI.
you can be a virgin and still have an STD. as far as your 20 people question if none of them have one then it wont just magically appear.
STD's don't just appear out of no where, so THEORETICALLY, "clean" people cannot pass on a disease.
However, many STDs don't show symptoms in all people or all the time, so although someone may appear "clean," that may not always be the case!
There are also STDs that are transmitted by other means, so there's no way to no for sure whether a virgin is STD free. It also depends on what you consider a virgin, someone who hasn't had vaginal intercourse is what most people consider a virgin. However, by the true definition, a virgin is someone who has not participated in ANY form of sex: oral, vaginal, anal, or manual (with another person, not by themselves).
First of all, there's no stupid questions if you really don't know the answers, feeling stupid prevents people from asking questions,and asking and then knowing, prevents mistakes like ST D's.
I've listened to people who think, that if they only do certain things and not intercourse, that they are safe.
Not so, If you are mixing body fluids, French kissing, etc,,
then I would consider that like kind of like a sex, and you are transferring germs and viruses,
Alot of people don't wash their hands. They go through the day touching doors and other things. Then all of a sudden say a man has to go to the bathroom,he holds the penis to guide the stream of urine, the germs on his hands is now there. Now, he comes home and decides to have sex with his wife. Everything that is now on the penis mixes within the vaginal fluid.
Also people touch their mouth and face through the day too.
And then may gradually kiss someone intimately.
