Answers:
Lemon and a little bit of suger will help you. If you have no honey sugar or glucose is the next best thing. If you have any olbas oil that is good.. hope you feel better soon.
All the best now.
Do you have some whisky? Lemon and whisky with a bit of sugar is good, although honey is better than sugar.
Yes because the vitamin c in the lemon helps to combat infections.
The common cold is incurable. All remedies are useless. Suffer.
my mom would just make me gargle (gurgle?) warm salt water, i assume the salt kills bacteria, but it works for me. The sniffles, well, can't really cure that
poor you lemon is good but not too good for your sore throat so don't take too much but sugar will be OK hun you can also try taking some steam in a bowl of hot water add some vicks vapo rub and take the steam with a towel over your head as for your sore throat gargle with some warm water and salt solution it will help ease off the pain.
get yourself to bed rest will help you get better
get well soon xxx
I would avoid sugar hun, as it's artificial and really not that good for you.sa_char_uk suggested whiskey, that's a good one, if not Brandy? It will help to sweat it out (even in this heat)lol
If you have only lemon, drink it quickly...at least your getting some goodness into your system.
Start taking slow release Vit C, maybe 1000mg-2000mg daily to ward off future sniffles;o]
Hope you feel better soon!

The salt and water gargle helps the throat for a wee while, Even gargle with a disprin. The lemon is for the cold. Would agree with the other answer,
If you have "vick vapour rub", put some in a basin with boiling water, if no vapour, steam over just boiling water.
Put lemon juice in cup, Sugar (brown if available) and some whiskey (will make you sweat it out) .
try now and good look.
Go buy some 'COLD-EZE' for your Cold real...F.A.S.T. before your Cold starts to worsen, miss.
I'm a real believer in (over-the-counter) COLD-EZE.
Colds only last 3 to 4 days with C.E. Without taking them, your Nose Cold can last 7 to 8 days.
The trick is..
If your Cold has already gone from a Soar Throat to now a Nose Cold,, you might be (to late) in grabbing ahold of this Cold with COLD-EZE.
C.E. only works if you suck on the 'Drops' during the Soar Throat stage of the Cold.
This is what I make as soon as I have the sniffles:
put slices of lemon in mug, add some sugar and jab at the lemon to release the juice, add warm (not boiling) water and mix well. taste and add more sugar if necessary.
The other thing I do is eat lots of oranges (along with the lemon, lots of vit C) and take echinacea extract at the sign of the sniffles. It almost always wards off the cold.it really works!!
Rub your throat with vicks and cover it. vapors will help the sniffles and will help the throat.
omg girl, i have the same thing right now. im SUFFERING... i cant swallow ANYTHING, it HURTS. I cant even talk. i cant eat, i cant take medicine, i have to like pour it down my throat.
did u get better?
tell me how...please
I am afraid neither lemon or honey do anything therapeutic, take 2 paracetamol and call me in the morning. DON'T gargle with salt or aspirin, Salt is potentially dangerous and aspirin can produce more throat irritation. When the chemist re-opens, try Diflam or chloraseptic spray.
for sroe throats: most sore throats are soon over.
you can try putting sugar but not in a big amount...or maybe other remedies as below?:-
Gargle several times a day with warm salt water. (1/2 tsp of salt in 1 cup water.)
Cold liquids or popsicles help some sore throats.
Sucking on hard candies or throat lozenges can be very soothing, because it increases saliva production. This is often as effective as more expensive remedies, but should not be used in young children because of the choking risk.
Use a cool-mist vaporizer or humidifier to moisten and sooth a dry and painful throat.
Try over-the-counter pain medications, such as acetaminophen. DO NOT give aspirin to children.
Antibiotics are usually NOT wise in the absence of a positive strep test or throat culture.
for sniffle, i'm not too sure. different people have different durations. like an example, my friend had sniffle everyday. my sister used to have sniffle because she is allergy to dust, but now she do not have anymore. maybe your nose is allergy to something?
I used to work for a Pharmacist who said 'Treat a cold and it lasts a week, don't treat it and it lasts 7 days'. So, I'd just grin and bear it if I were you.
Honey isn't just soothing, it's antibacterial! This is why its used. So sugar will not be a good substitute I'm afraid. Tea tree oil and/or lavender oil is great for killing the bacteria. Gargle with it (diluted), inhale it and rub lavender oil into the outside of your throat, it really really works. Lots of vit c is good at warding off future attacks. For instant soothing, glycerin syrup is good, as is vit E oil or evening primrose oil or something similar. Olive oil is also good and its also antibacterial. Failing all of that, I have to agree that a generous sip of brandy etc does work wonders! Hope you get better soon. Holly xxx
