15 month old with 104 degree fever need advice asap?

Nothing except take him tothe ER.
If you are trying home remedies, and using Motrin and Tylenol, alternate between the two. Motrin now, next dose Tylenol etc. Tepid water is fine for cooling them off, but keep a close eye on the fever after it drops, if it spikes too quick again, it can cause a seizure. Febrile seizures are not uncommon in shildren that age, the seizures are caused by the rapid rise in the tempature, not in the tempature itself.
Go to the ER, fevers are a symptom, and you need to know that it is not a symptom of something more serious. Work out a payment arrangement.
try tylenol and a cold washcloth it should work but if his fever gets that high again you need to go in asap it could really hurt him if you dont
I know that you can't pay the bill
But if you are that worried about your baby, I would take him.
There is no price on a life.
I wouldn't take any chances and just take him
Make sure he is getting plenty of fluids and let him play in a cool bath, it will help keep him comfortable. Also Tylenol will help, until he can be seen by a doctor. There may be a walk-in clinic near you that is quicker than the ER.
take him anyway. you need to.
i would take them to ER .tell them you need to make payments.that is to high to wait.
Go to the doctor NOW! A temperature that high in a child can be life threatening!! I dont know where you are but surely there are medical facilities for people who cant afford to pay, as there are in my country (Australia). Can a friend or family help you out with some money?. Its your child's life!
Hospital. Now.
High temperatures are ESPECIALLY dangerous in children that young. If it gets/stays high enough it could damage his brain. I don't think you want to risk that. Get off the computer, get a cold compress wrapped in a paper towel for him, and go now.
dont matter on the nill but what matters is the health of your baby, she's in danher so help your baby...
okay this happened to me when i was 7
first of all u MUST get your child in a COLD shower but not tooo cold
then take towels and soak them in water and rub on forehead and neck
but make sure the water isnt so cold its harmful
Give him a cool bath, give a dose of infant tylenol then in a few hours give a piggyback dose of infant motrin 2 hrs later. See how he does and call the pediatrician in the morning or even better call the pediatrician's office now and have them paged so they can call you back to give advice. If a child's fever gets too high they run the risk of a seizure and fever is almost always associated with an infection. Good luck!
Go to the ER immediately. High fever can cause seizure activity and that is definitely not good. The ER cannot refuse treatment because of no insurance.. Hospitals also have programs to help pay the bill when you don't have insurance. Please go right away.
TAKE HIM TO SEE DOCTOR
Take him to the ER! They have to treat him insurance or not! You need to apply for medicaid first thing Monday. Give him tylenol if you haven't all ready. Do not wait! Most places also have a sliding scale. If you can get on medicaid they will back date and pay for your ER visit. Get him in!!
Take that baby to the ER, they will accept her/him in to the emergency room. Take a 2nd job if it takes it to repay them..just take care of your baby.
As the mother of a little girl who almost died from Meningcoccemia (Septicimic Bacterial Meningitis) and did lose 75% of her L foot and four fingertips, the minute that fever got over 102, you folks should have been on your way to the ER, especially with a baby. Screw the bill. You can pay that anytime. All US states have a medical insurance program for the uninsured and most of the underinsured. It's called Medicaid, and you can bill it retroactively, for 90 days in most states. They can grant this to you on an emergency basis, as well. Most, if not all, hospitals have a fund for people who cannot pay all of or most of their medical bills, either, which most people do not know about, and which most hospitals do not want them or you to know about either.
I used to be one of the least likely people to ever go to the doctor's. Going on a timely basis is what saved the life of my child. Life is ALWAYS first. Money and bills are second, or should be.
Ok...grab a popcicle now...put that baby into a luke warm bath(which is basically a little higher than room temp.) I have found Infant Motrin to work better than Infant Tylenol so I would try that. No blankets, no clothes, diaper only. Make sure to keep this child well hydrated.
Call your child's pediatrician in the mean time and get the doctors instructions which will be free and over the phone...if you do not have a pediatrician then call the closest children's hospital to you and they will have nurses that will get on the phone and help you.
A fever of that degree could simply be a mild virus but then again could be a bad one or a horrible ear infection. It would be best to have the child evaluated ASAP...regardless of the bill...let it go on your credit and pay it later...your child's health comes first.
If his temp. goes up to 104 and you cannot bring it down you will need to take him to the ER. Staying that high for any length of time can cause brain damage or a seizure.
Hopefully, it will not go up that high again. Here are some suggestions to keep it down.
-For starters, have you given him any children's meds?
-You need to keep him hydrated. Give him some cool water, not cold, just cool.
-Try stripping him down to his diaper. If he shows signs of getting cold then make him comfy with more clothes or a blanket.
-If he will tolerate it apply a tepid cloth to his back, neck, or forehead. Tepid is somewhere between cool and warm. You do not want cold because that would be a shock to his system since it is already overheated.
I will pray to God in Heaven for him.
I have experienced motrin works way faster than tylenol in 5 mins my kidos are running around like nothings wrong and of course they start wearing down again but after 5 hrs i give them more if you dont get it down it would be best to go in because they can have febolic seizers and if you fall asleep you will not know it also def put a cold rag on the back of the neck and forhead if you have popcicles they work wonders to or even chopped up ice good luck and please watch as the siezers fevers bring on are very serious!!!!! so keep one eye open if you dont go to the emergancy room and also alot of hospitals wrtie the bill off after 1 year
What other symptoms are there?
Keep him undressed except for diapers. Keep a cool cloth for his forehead and keep wiping him down with a cool cloth.
Get him to drink ice water. At least a ounce every hour. A popsicle could help too.
Catnip, chamomile, spearmint are all good fever reducers that are natural. If you feel more comfortable, children's Tylenol should help.
A fever means his body in doing what it is supposed to do. A fever is not a disease, it is the body's natural defense mechanism.
If the fever gets any higher take him in. If it stays at 104 constantly until tomorrow noon, take him in.
Oh Girl,
You need to take him to the ER ASAP ! Screw the bill...they will work out a payment plan for you.
