What is a Positive Serological Test?
I'm traveling abroad this summer and they require me to get the following immunizations OR a positive serological test (PST) for each. Can u explain what a PST is?
Immunizations needed:
Measles
Mumps
Rubella
Tetanus-Diphtheria
Hepatitis B series
Meningococcal vaccine
My mom is 85, has heart failure, atrial fibrillation and 2 leaking valves. Her life expectancy?
Answer:
positive serological test in broad terms means you have been exposed to the disease (naturally or by vaccination). It means you have antibodies in your serum. I would check with a doctor who specialized in travel medicine. depending on where you are going you may want to get some of those vaccines boosted even if you have a postitive serological test.
A PST will show that you have antibodies to these diseases and hence, do not need vaccines.
