Can it cause harm to use lidocaine, aloe or vitamin a and d ointment on a BAAAD sunburn?
Question:
is it better to let heal on it own??
would lost of water or vitamins help?
Answers:
Use one of the aloe vera products that have a numbing ingredient added. When I was undergoing radiation therapy (now that's a burn), I was given a tube of what was basically aloe vera w/some vitamins & pain reliever. The aloe will help a lot. I've used the otc aloe for bad sunburns, too.
Stay hydrated and take some aspirin for pain and to help the inflamation.
all of those are good remedies except for the lidocaine is going to burn when you put it on , the best thing if you can stand the smell for a little bit is get in the shower and pour vinegar on the sun burn , it will pull the heat out of the sunburn then take a shower after it stops burning , i have done this and it works pretty good
Sunburn have to heal on their own. Using lidocaine more than the labeling can result in systemic absorption and may cause problems, but this is unlikely. Lidocaine is a good choice, though the effects generally are short (about 15 minutes). Aloe is about the same as lidocaine but not much concern about systemic problems. The gel can be chilled and applied for some extra soothing. Vitamin A and D probably do not speed the healing process and don't play a role in symptom relief either. Best thing is to stay hydrated (always good for any skin condition) and use sunscreen on the affected area (the new skin will be sensitive). Tylenol may help with some of the pain as well if it gets really bad.
