Question:
I have a friend who has had 1 masectomy & is going thru reconstruction already. However she also just recently lost her husband & has no source of income. She didn't have insurance to begin with (it seems most people don't these days) therefore she received a grant from the komen foundation but.. they don't pay for Dr.'s. So she is already stuck with huge amounts of debt from docs & anesthesiologists. Are there any resources out there to help her??

I am so sorry for your friend - I don't know of any grants but you may want to look to the American Cancer Society, St' Jude's Hospital, the Shriners, the Ronald McDonald House, and also at the hospital where her doctors are affiliated - there may be some type of financial forgiveness/ aid program available. I wish I had more for you - it is sickening that people have to have such horrible illnesses and limited programs to help pay - maybe she could move to Canada? I think they pay for everything and have many treatments available that aren't available here..I'm not being sarcastic - I'm serious. I pray that everything will work out for your friend.
