Is it true that blue eyed people are allergic to the sun?

Question:
Is it true that blue eyed (or possibly light colored eyed) people are allergic to the sun (makes them sneeze)? Does this happen to people with darker eyes?

Answers:
interesting question! i have blue eyes but i dont think im allergic to the sun! an old man once told me that the sun can make you sneeze because it irritates your sinuses! i dont know if that is true though lol
I have blue eyes and I love the sun. I get burnt when I am in it too long but that's NOT an allergy.
no. i have dark eyes and my friends have green and blue eyes and none of them have a reaction with the sun in any way.
Blue/Green eyes are more sensitive to the sunlight. The darker the eye color, the more pigment the eyes contain, which aid in protection from the sun. This is why most sunglasses are with dark lenses. Anyone who feels a sneeze coming but, cannot quite get the sneeze to let loose, looking up to the sun, it can trigger the rest of the reaction of a sneeze. I'm not exactly sure why this occurs but, it does work. Maybe the warmth from the sun?? I hope that this helps some.
"Sun allergy" isn't a true allery, but there is a condition known as Polymorphous Light Eruption (or PMLE). It affects the skin, not the eyes. It's rare, but it exists (I remember reading an article in Time or Newsweek many years ago, about a family whose young daughters were so sensitive to light they couldn't be exposed for more than a few seconds before burning).

As for eye color, blue-eyed people are more susceptible to retinal damage caused by sunlight. If you have blue eyes, it's best to wear good-quality sunglasses whenever you are outside or driving.

The sneezing thing is new to me, though...
When sunlight makes you sneeze it is called a photic sneeze.
http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/h2g2/a199604. If you have lighter coloured eyes you are no more likely to suffer from this. It is not an allergy.
no, you're thinking of a type of photosenstivity. There are some people who sneeze when they look into bright light, and some people get horrible headaches or stomach aches from being exposed to certain levels of UV radiation, but it has nothing to do with eye colour. Having light coloured eyes just means there different pigmenation in the iris. While blue/light eyed people tend to have fairer skin and thus burn easier, it isn't an allergy.
maybe some but not all. It probably doesn't have anything to do with the color of the eyes.
