maybe.to find out if there is still one in there just stick a slab of meat on a table and tell your brother to open his mouth right by the meat...it might take awhile but the worm will come out.i know its gross but its that or surgery im thinking
You should bring it to the doctor if you are worried to make sure, but if it looked like tape and was a worm then it most likely was a tapeworm, it could of been dead it doesnt have to be moving. He could of also swallowed something long that looks like a tapeworm

I heard on Oprah that usually people who have tape worm lose weight because it consumes most of the calories that you eat. I'm not saying that if he hasnt lost weight that it isn't tape worm though. I'd definitely get him to the doctor because no matter what it is, it should be checked out. I wish you the best.
It may have been something else. What, I'm not sure, but there are other ways. Ask him if he has been having abdominal pain, diarreh, or if he's suffered a loss of appetite. Some other signs are nausea, weight loss, and in some cases, seizures and fever. I'm not saying you should sit around and wait for him to develop a fever, or to suffer s seizure, but I would ask him about the other things. If he's suffering from two or more of those symptoms, then go and see a doctor. There's medicine you can take for treatment.
All of the other answerers have no idea what they are talking about! Tapeworms are very rare and it is very unlikely that he has a tape worm. If you ask a doctor he will more than likey say "no, it's not a tape worm."
