Should i go into ER for my menstral bloating cause i have heart failure?

Question:
If I have water weight gain I am supposed to go into the ER but I have menstral bloating now...But should I still go in? Cornfused here...

Answers:
Do you have an increase of 5 more pounds now? That is
what I was told the other day about my holding water. If I've
gained 5, that is water retention. And if not, than the swelling
is probably from the heat or something else. I assume you
have CHF as I do.
Unless you are having problems breathing, have swollen
legs, ankles and feet/toes, you should save yourself a trip.
Many of us have water retention from that time of the month.
GIve it a couple of days and see if there's a change. Usually
you'd have trouble breathing from CHF, and you wouldn't
with period bloat and water retention from that. No need
to panic. No need for the ER that I can see. But if it makes
you feel better, do go. Being you have a heart condition, they
may want to check your vitals just in case. And you will feel
better for having checked things out.
That's a tough one. As you know heart failure can cause a back up of fluid in the system so you have to weigh yourself daily to ensure that you are not getting into trouble. If your legs are swelling I would say yes, and especially yes if you have trouble sleeping flat on your back. But you could also go into heart failure and menstruate at the same time so be careful. In any case keep your feet up if you can, wear support stockings to aid in reducing the swelling, drink less water and you know, if you are really concerned about the amount of swelling you are having it is better to get it checked out.
If when you are feeling "bloating" you are also becoming short of breath lying flat, sitting or walking, or if you feel chest pain, absolutely.

If not, it can wait for a call in the am to your cardiologist -- maybe you an coordinate diuretic treatment during that time of the month.

Either way, make sure you are following the dietary guidelines -- low salt, limited water each day. Cut down on your grams of sugar--that can bloat you up as well.

Best wishes!
it is better to be on the safe side. if they told you to go in, then i would go.
