My eye is reddish and is stuck shut in the mornings but i show no other signs of pinkeye\?

Question:
is this pinkeye? i also have dry/itchy throat, cough a lot, stuffy/runny nose, and nothing is wrong with my other eye. another yahoo question similar to this a lady said its not pinkeye just allergies and that she gets it all the time.. is this pinkeye or allergies?

Answers:
You possibly have allergies, however your "eye stuck shut" is more in line with Pinkeye/conjunctivitis. You need to go to the doctor.
Don't mess around with it, get some drops from the doctor. It could be just a symptom from a cold, but it's better to be safe than sorry. The longer you wait to treat pink eye, the harder it is to get rid of.
Friend, I wouldn't fool around if I were you. Let a dr determine if its allergies and you need antihistamines or if its an infection and you need anti-biotics.
Don't waste time when it's your eyes. Get to the dr and let him have a look.
I have had an infection in my eyes, ears and sinuses all at once and it was not allergies, I needed antibiotics.
Yes, probably. Go to the doctor! It is highly contagious!
Only a doctor can answer this correctly. To open your eye comfortably in the morning, put a warm washcloth on it for a few minutes, then finish with a cool cloth. I have had just that symptom for 30 years, and that's the only thing I can do to "unstick" it some days. For me, this is allergies.
Sounds more like you have a cold in your eye, or maybe just a sty, you could try sty medicine for your eye, or just wait it out if it doesnt hurt or get worse.
What other signs of pink eye were you waiting for? I have tried this home remedy and it worked for pink eye - use multipurpose contact lens solution. Drip it direclty into your eyes at least 3-4 times/day. The Boric acid in there takes care of the pink eye. And the product is made for contact lenses, so you know it is safe for your eyes.
I've had this problem in the past. It has been red and half shut for a few days. You will need to go to the doctor and get some drops. Most likely there is a piece of eye lash stuck in your eyes (that was my problem) ask someone to look while you hold your eyes open. Look in different directions..
