Is anyone else allergic to morphine, aspirin ,and codeine ,how do you cope with pain?

Question:

Answers:
It depends what you mean by allergic.

True allergy means developing a rash, wheeze and cardiovascular collapse when exposed to a drug. Most people say that they are allergic to drugs when what they mean is they are intolerant. This may seem pedantic, but it does actually have implications in your treatment.

If you are truly allergic to aspirin, you may still be able to take other non steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs (NSAIDs) like ibuprofen, voltarol etc. However, if aspirin causes you stomach ache, then you also cannot take any other NSAIDs.

If you are also truly allergic to morphine and codeine, then you still may be able to take other opiate like drugs such as fentanyl lozenges or patches. If they cause you hallucinations, dizziness or constipation, then other opiates will not help you.

You could try paracetamol or tramadol. Depending on your cause of pain you could also try acupuncture, tens machines, amytryptilline, gabapentin to name a few.
T.E.N.S machines work for me.
There has got to be something for you to take for pain. Ask your doctor. No Tylenol? Motrin? Alleve?
You should check out the TENS machine, it's an electronic device that you attach and it confuses your nerves with an electrical impulse, shorting out the pain nerves. It's used lots for people with back pain, those in childbirth who don't want to take drugs, people suffering from headaches.

I been admitted to a hospital over 40 times, 7 stomache surgeries, and an open heart to replace a heart valve. I'm allergic to morphine so they give me Demerol, even though they're trying not to use it like in the past. I had to be brought back to life because a nurse gave me morphine for pain and I even had a red wrist band that said I was allergic to morphine. The scariest thing in my life. Thank GOD she was right there when it happened cause soon as I got that shot I couldn't breathe. All I did was point down my throat and I was gone. Nothing I could do. That was a trip I never want to experience again!
Yes,I am allergic to aspirin and codeine.Codeine or aspirin should never be given to people with any kind of stomach problems since these are ingested they present an entirely different problem than Morphine( which is an injected medication).Your body can build up a Resistance to morphine to a point where it does no good. There are other medications that can be used instead of these medications, but that is up to your doctor. Here is a little known=fact====The venom of the (Male) Duck-bill Platypus is the most painful of all pains, and Morphine does no good at all.
I'm allergic to morphine and aspirin. I can take paracetamol, although I'm quite lucky I have a high pain threshhold.

PS, just read Gasman's answer, if you're allergic to morphine DO NOT use Tramadol as it's a morphine based analgesic.
