Can you develop an allergy overnight?

Question:
I can't remember eating anything out of the ordinary recently besides a small amount of pineapple. I've developed a rash on my lips that the doctor thinks is an allergic reaction. Can you develop an allergy to something that you have previously had no problem eating? Like peanuts?

Answers:
The answer is YES you can. Food allergies commonly manifest in patients who have shown no sensitivity in the past. Please research food allergies on the web. There is a plethora of information about this.
I was never allergic to anything before I was 15. Then I noticed one day when I ate fresh fruits and vegitables. But when I cook the fruits and vegitables I am fine. Now the allergy has prgressed to where my lips face, tongue, and throat swell up and itch. My doctor says I am allergic to Pectin.

This article shows that pectin is in jams and jelly, but my doctor says it is also used as a preservative in fruits and veggies.

My mother developed an allergy to shell fish. She ate shrimp her whole life, and then one night her throat closed up and she went into shock. So YES, absolutely, you can develop an allergy at any point in your life.

Yup, my brother ate peanut butter everyday for lunch and one day he had an allergic reaction to it. He was only allergic to it for about a month and eats everyday again. I'm not sure if yours will go away like his but you never know.
