How do i get rid of a boil?

Question:
my hubby has a boil on his leg, he says it is very painfull. any suggestions?

Here is a link for a list of home remedies to try. I for one would pull the hairs out of the boil with tweezers because usually an infected hair can cause a boil. There also are salves at the pharmacy for boils. Try applying wet moist heat to the area first before using any remedy.

put a heater pad on the boil or a hot water bottle
Warm compresses to bring it to the surface. Be careful
Lance it.
Yes tell him to go to Wal_mart and get some medicated salt and sit in hot water it will come to an head a burst.
he needs to sit in a very hot bath with epsom salts for like an hour and then you need to squeeze it to get the nastyness out. I grew up getting boils and they totally suck. But, getting all of the puss and the root out is the only way to get rid of it. You could also go to the doctor and have them cut it open. after you squeeze it out slowly use peroxide on it. It hurts but just tell him to suck it up.
He needs to go see a doctor for treatment and antiboitics. If he can see his regular doc today yet that would be great if not send him to urgent care to get it treated.
Yes, you can use heat, like a heating pad, to bring the head out and then lance it, but i advice going to the doctor because they get easily infected.
Strap him down, gag him, and shove a sterilized sewing needle into it..carefully mind you. Now squeeze it till all the puss and nasty stuff comes out, Use a little peroxide, and allow to heal.
He will hate you for a few minutes, but he'll get over it when he realizes it would have cost upwards of 200 bucks at the ER. For the same thing.
Also helps if you have some anti-biotics handy for preventing further infections.
Boils are painful and just looking at the angry red swelling is enough to make it feel worse. Do not prod, squeeze or whatever until it is ripe i.e. it comes to a "head" you will see yellow substance under the skin at the apex of the boil. The best thing to do of course and also the least painful is to put an antiseptic poultice over it to draw the yellow stuff out. Only then can you gently squeeze it out. Do this until just pure blood comes out of it . do not overdo. There is a way to do it with a heated bottle. Heat the bottle (don't burn the poor guy) and place the mouth (of the bottle) over the boil. as the air cools it will cause a mild suction - just enough to pop it. You could also lance it ... seriously I'd get a doc to do this.
my daughter once had a very painful boil behind her knee and she couldnt bend her leg at all. the only remedy i had at the time was some Germolene antiseptic cream so i smothered her boil in the cream and put on a pad of gauze and bandaged it up by the next day the boil had burst. Germolene is good at drawing out the impurities in the spots or in this case a boil. anyway her boil healed in a few days and she has never had one since.

some people need a little extra help in the form of antibiotics as well as ointment on the boil.

i wouldnt recommend sitting in a hot bath as this will make the boil swell and if it does not pop then you would be in even more pain than before.
