Should i be celebrating right now because it tested negative?

Question:
i had unprotected oral sex last year june 2006 with someone i just met. A year and a month later, i had a HIV Test at a local diagnostic laboratory in our place last July 11, 2007. they said it is only a qualitative exam, where in the result would only tell negative or positive. On July 12, 2007, i got the result and it was NEGATIVE. it's already a year and a month now since i had sex and remained abstained from doing it. i dont really worry that much now because i already know the result and i have learned my lesson from that experience but should i entirely forget all about the paranoia that it gave me? should i still worry about the result?

Answers:
consider yourself lucky and dont do it again.

regardless of how much you want to do this with someone your life is not worth it.
Well, hold the celebration even its told to be negative.

Also check the chapter 9. then you can decide what best for you .
Well I think its good that you worried about it because that is what enabled you to get checked. People who aren't worried about it are more likely to end up with something, because they aren't taking the steps to make sure they are clean like you did. I'd say that your anxious feelings are healthy. So continue your life with caution but don't let it overcome you.
I commend you on your strong will! The best thing to do, if you are still worried about it, is to get tested every six months. Thats what a lot of people do to make sure that they are staying healthy, besides using protection. I volunteer at an HIV community and i can tell you that the most important thing i could ever do for myself is to get tested every six months just in case and just for my frame of mind. Stay on top of it so that you can relax about the situation.
It takes at least 30 days (in rare cases 3 months and in even rarer cases 6 months) for the HIV virus to show up on the test. I would say test after that 30 days and again after the 6 month mark to ensure 100% accuracy. Remember, any unprotected sexual activity during that time start the timeline over if you are looking for 100% accuracy. Because your last sexual contact was over a year ago the test should be 100% accurate for you...
