Nonoxynyl-9 has a number of possible side effects. These include irritation, itching, or burning of the sex organs (either partner), and in women, urinary tract infections, yeast infection, and bacterial vaginosis.These side effects are uncommon; one study found that only 3-5% of women who try spermicides discontinue use due to side effects.
This applies even if swallowed[well, not the burning of sex organs, if the spermicide never touched it, but then what would be the use?]. But as studies show, not in too big of a percentage, so no real need to worry.
It may cause some minor irritation of the mouth, throat but, not harmful, unless you swallowed alot of it. But, even then, you may experience nausea. Most spermicidal creams have been eliminated. If you are concerned, drink lots of water to dilute it. You should be fine. I hope that this helps.
