Valtex costs?
Question:
Answers:
Valtrex is very expensive without insurance but I couldn't find the exact amount. An educated guess, around 250$ or more for a month's supply of 1gm caplets for daily suppressive therapy(and that could be on the low side). Treatment for just during the infection to lessen the course and severity of the outbreak is usually 7-10 days and would cost less. The makers of valtrex have a program where you can print 10$ coupon each month for a 30day Valtrex prescription for preventive/suppressive therapy. You can use it even if you have insurance to help with co-pays. Here is the link: http://www.valtrex.com/forherpes/daily_r...
There are other, cheaper alternatives to valtrex but they are a little more inconvenient because you have to take them up to 5 times per day. Acyclovir 200mg is one which is on Wal-Mart's $4 Generic drug program and a prescription for 30 Acyclovir 200mg pills will only cost you $4. If you doctor thinks you need a higher dose, and therefore require more than the 30 pills, Wal-mart might still cover at the $4 price. Have him call the pharmacy and ask. Below is the link to the Wal-Mart site where you can find a list of all the generic drugs covered under that program. It can really save you alot of money even if you have insurance.
Too much
Your best bet would be to go to the drug company's website. Often times you can sign up with them to get free or low cost medication straight from the lab. I'm sure you will have to qualify, but the income limits are usually set pretty high for things like that. Good luck...
