How do you get rid of discolorations and stretch marks?
Question:
Answers:
See a dermatologist about the discolorations as many things can cause them, but the stretch marks are there to stay. I have them myself, and I've tried everything. I even talked a doctor into giving me a cream i had read up on, but to no avail. They will fade, and become less noticeable through time, but they will always be there. It'll take time, but you'll get more comfortable with them.
Edit: I just came back and read a couple of the other answers.. and I feel compelled to discourage tanning to hide the stretch marks. Tanning is SO bad for your skin, and as stretch marks are themselves like skin damage, it makes sense to not expose them to excessive UV rays. If you feel self conscious, you can try a self tanner while being VERY cautious to not allow it to pool in the marks. The cream idea is a good idea, if only to soothe the skin. Vitamin E, K, and elastin are supposed to all be very good for helping the skin to heal and allow for elasticity. All they did for me was make it feel better, I don't know that it would work any better for you. I know it sucks, I really wish there were a miracle cure, but I've been searching for THREE years now and haven't found one. I did everything I could think of while pregnant to try to stop them from coming . They just happen, and with todays technology there is little hope for us. Once again I can only promise that they WILL fade over time, this can take up to a year or more to finish. Once this happens they'll be either a teensy bit lighter or darker than your normal skin tone.
People are more forgiving than you think.
Also: if the discolorations are from pregnancy there is a good chance that they will fade. If they do not there is a way to return your skin to a more normal looking color, but you will have to see a doctor to discuss.
Also, on a brighter note, they are almost invisible in medium light once they fade :o)
try cocoa butter on new stretch marks to prevent them and stop them before they come in problem areas. as for old ones, cocoa butter isn't doing much for me. i'm also using Avon's Stretch Mark Soother. I'm starring you in case someone gives a miracle answer! good luck!
depends on how long you've had them,
ask your dermatologist, its supposed to be easier to get rid of new marks then old marks, but for most ppl, it will never fade. short term solution: try tanning the area to make it less visible
1. Moisturizers and creams. Cocoa butter or anything containing vitamin E is good.
2. Alpha hydroxy acids to exfoliate the skin, soften the skin, and improved elasticity.
3. Tretinoin or Retin-A. This compound loosens the keratin in the outer skin layers and helps to exfoliate dead skin cells.
4. Surgery to remove the affected skin. A tummy tuck is one example when surgery removes stretch marks.
