You see a doctor asap
first of all, calm down. freaking out is not going to help at all. you could have been nervous knowing your mom was going to check it. mine elevates a little when i go to the doctor. yet, yesterday i was in the hospital for a procedure and it was perfect. calm yourself down and let your mom check it again. if it's still high, you can go to your doctor and get a check up just to be safe.
All the men in my family have this issue and it's genetic, my doctor always complains that I should take medication to resolve my blood preasure because I am not overweight and I exercise, but I hate taking pills and I figure since I'm young it's not a big deal, however, this is something most likely I will regret
Please have your CBC or urine checked or go directly to a Nephrologist .
Believe it or not...I was found to have high blood pressure when I was only 17 years old. I am 54 yrs old now and have been on some type of blood pressure medication all of my life. It hasn't hurt me, it's extended my life.
So first order of business for you young lady is to go to your doctor. He will take your blood pressure several more times, before deciding whether you should be on any medication. It really IS important that you go.
In the meantime, you can do several things to help yourself. Watching your salt intake is the first order of business. Potato chips, snacks and such are loaded with salt, as are some soft drinks. Hopefully you do not smoke, but if you do, I would throw those things away.
If your doctor thinks you are hypertensive...what's the worst that can happen? You have to take a little pill? Trust me on this one...that little pill will get your blood pressure under control and keep it under control. You will live a longer life if you are treated and treated early. High blood pressure at your age, is NOT unheard of.
Try to take a deep breath and relax. If you really do have high blood pressure, you are living in the right age. The age of great medications and great understanding of high blood pressure. Taking a pill is really no big deal, when it will give you less worries about suffering any damage from high blood pressure.
And yes, it can be hereditary. It is in my family. But like I say, I am now 54 and because I have taken care of myself, have suffered no ill effects from having it all of my adult life.
Good luck to you and have your mum make an appointment for you to see a doctor. You will feel much better once a doctor tells you what is going on.
