Do you think a second mattress cover would help?

Question:

I have the most serve allergy to dust and dust mites that my doctor has ever seen. I put a mattress cover on my bed and my stuffed nose decreased by about 40% whn I wake up. I sleep in the bottom of a bunk bed. The bed above me is held up by 6 thin panels of wood meaning dust mites from that top mattress may be falling on me. Do you think I should get a second hypo allergenic cover and put it up side down on the top matress?

my kids are in bunk beds and are both allergic to dust
i was told by their specialist to buy a matress slip protector to cover their entire matress, but they cost $600 for 2 beds
so instead i brought their beds 2 regular covers for each bed, i put them on both sides, it worked great for only $100, try it
you will still get dustmites, u gotta wash all the bedding once a month, xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

Sleep on the top?

try a hypoallergenic matress cover, they are sold at most linen stores that sell bedding. they encompass the whole mattress, like a giant sack, they are a bit more expensive but well worth it

Yup. Sure that would work. Also, you can get a piece of thin plywood cut to the size of the bed. put it under the top mattress. This will help prevent dust and dust mites/bed bugs from falling off the mattress unto you. Any way you can switch bunks? even the top person's bunks sheets and quilts could have dust on them. everytime the move can cause the dust to come over the sides and onto your sheets. Just some ideas.
