Can anyone give me a ballpark on costs associated with radiation for breast cancer or where I can find that?
I have not yet met with a radiologist because I'm still going through chemo & am trying to prep for my Flex Spending acct. $$ for next year. I am anticipating about 5 times for radiation so even an estimate or ballpark figure from someone sho has gone through this would be helpful.

I wish I could answer you but I have the same question. I met my deductible for this year but have to start over in Jan. I am just now starting Rads and that will bring me 4 weeks into the new year. I am quiet sure that will take care of the deductible next year. My Insurance has a Cost Calculator and that said its 390 dollars for a week. Hmm somehow I don't believe that. Also don't forget the Doc visits. I was told 2 a week, with the oncologist with blood check and one with the Radiation Doc.
If you have a flex account you should have a maximum that you put in it. I would do just that. I have a Health Savings Account and the IRS says I can only put in what my deductible is.
Good luck to you !
What is the remedy to avoid the blackmarks on the snout?
I would think it would depend on what kind of coverage you have with insurance, and for how long you will get treatment. Mine was 5 weeks, but by the time I had radiation, my max out of pocket was spent so insurance covered the rest. So in 2004 it was about $950 per treatment. I am sure that has gone up. But at least it's a number to start with. Good luck!
