Do you think I should see an allergist?

Question:
I have the worst allergy to dust my doctor has ever seen. I experince stuffed nose, runny nose, red eye, dry throat, and thick mucus dripping down the back of my throat. When I go to a very dusty place like school, I feel tired for the first two hours because my body has to adjust to new levels of dust in the air. It feels like I'm tired and worn-out, but not sleepy; and it feels like I don't have my eyes open all the way when I do. When my nose is stuffed, old mucus drips onto my vocal cords making them sore sometimes. When my nose is clear, new thick mucus drips onto my vocal cords also making them sore sometimes. I vacuum the carpet every day which takes about 2 hours. Its the only thing that really helps, but I can't vaccum every place I go. The medication gets my nose clear, but it doesn't help with the tiredness or the mucus leak.

Things I've tried:

Zyrtec
Flonase
Claritin
Nasal irrigation
Vacuuming

This are some things that will work and help you build your immune system up so that you can tolerate going other places.

The key is your home environment. You spend more time there then anywhere else.

Take out all the carpeting and replace them with hardwood, lino, tiles. If you have furnace heating/vents then install a allergy filter on the furnace and put filters in the vents. Change often. If you have hot water/radiant heat then get a HEPA air filter, especially in the bedroom.

Cover your mattress/box spring, comforter/pillows with allergen tight covers.

Remove/minimize upholstery and stuffed animals. Have blinds instead of drapes.

This will help cut down the dust in your home dramatically. By doing this, you give your body a break, especially while you sleep. Over time you will be able to tolerate other places more and need less medication.

Our bodies can only tolerate to much before it can not take anymore. That is when our bodies become tired and we are medicated to the maximum but we just don't feel better. You can build your immune system up by avoiding what you are allergic to as much as possible so that when we have to venture into places we have no control our bodies are much more able to cope.

You could also try allergy shots but be aware that they do not work for everyone.
Yeah! Definitely! You may need allergy shots

Get off the prescription drugs. Start taking a teaspoon of LOCAL honey each day to help your body develop immunities to the air born irritants in your area. This really works!! Like all herbal remedies, it takes a while to work but you will absolutely be CURED. Local honey is 100% natural, has no side effects or long term degradation of your internal organs. You have nothing to lose accept your allergies as well as cold and flu symptoms. You will start feeling better and your overall health will improve as well.
