How many xrays are 2 many?

Question:
ive had to have lots of xrays over a ureteral stone.about 6 now.how many 2 many.? and has anyone had eswl or lipotripsy? on there ureter? i only pass some stones the first day.wonder if there is more?

Answers:
As an xray technologist, i can tell you that having 6 xrays will not hurt you. You would have to have thousands of xrays performed for me to say its too many. One xray is a low dose of radiation. To answer your problem with the stone, it sounds like you had a large stone that had to be broken up. More than likely you will pass pieces of the stone. When they do lithotripsy(ESWL) it breaks up the stone, so you can pass them or until they are confident the stone is smaller than your ureter and then in most cases they will Ureteroscopy to retrieve it.Hope this helped
X-rays do not emit a significantly high amount of radiation. They are safe to get repeatedly.
I think that 10 is to many to have done. I heard that it would cause some type of cancer.
