I got poison ivy really bad and I need to know how to get rid of it?

I have poison ivy all over me. A few years back I had it so bad I had to go to the emergency room and I dont want that to happen again. Please help

calamine lotion - pink liquid - avail at any drug store - dab it on with a tissue or qtip several times a day - relieves itch, dries it out-heals it
Cortizone cream.
