What is diastolic and systolic?
Question:
Answers:
Blood pressure is displayed in two numbers (ie. 120/80). The first (top) number is the Systolic pressure and is the pressure measured when the heart beats producing a greater force against the arterial walls. The second (bottom) number is the Diastolic pressure and is the pressure measured between heart beats producing less pressure against the arterial walls.
Here is the break down of what the numbers mean:
Low BP (Hypotension) > 90/60 or lower
Normal BP > 90-120/60-80
Prehypertension > 120-139/80-89
High BP (Hypertension) Stage 1 > 140-159/90-99
High BP (Hypertension) Stage 1 > 160/100 or higher
Your systolic pressure of 130 puts you in the Prehypertension category, but much depends on when and how you check you BP.
I have set up a website that provides basic information on the conditions and procedures I have experienced. It also provides links to more information. On the Blood Pressure page there are tables of what the numbers mean, links to learn how properly monitor your BP, and links to printable tracking logs. There is also a link to a downloadable tracking program. It can be downloaded free with ads or for a price without ads. I'm using it and like it a lot. You can enter several measurements each day and the graph then plots them as an average or can plot them individually.

Hope this helps.

That's pretty good.

systolic is blood pressure when the heart compresses. diastolic is the pressure when the heart relaxes.
Simple as that.
Systolic is the 130 and the diastolic is the 70. This is normal blood pressure. In fact, quite good.
Don't be surprised if these readings change frequently throughout the day. This is normal of course. The Systolic pressure measures the pressure reading going through the artery's. The diastolic pressure is specifically the minimum arterial pressure during relaxation and dilatation of the ventricles of the heart when the ventricles fill with blood...or as is called, when the heart is at rest.
Hope this helps...Great reading! Keep up the good work..
Hmmm..130/70 systole(heart contracts) -130 and diastole (heart relaxes)-70... When we say BP it is the pressure exerted by your heart to your blood vessels. It varies some BP which is high to others but normal or low to others (for example: 150/100 it seems high, but to others it is normal). It depends...but the standard normal is 120/80, 130/90...you should know yours..that 130/70 might high or low for you..I hope it is normal. Regards'
