Does smoking and heart arythmia mix?
Question:
Answers:
Smoking does make your heart rate and blood pressure rise, so yes that could have something to do with it. I smoke too much too and it dont do much for my panic disorder, but i dont know if i can quit! Caffeine raises your heart rate too...
Sounds like if you quit both of these you would be alot better off but you already know that.
Good luck chica ;-)
If you are having these kinds of problems now at your age it doesn't bode well for a very long life. These are things that shouldn't be happening until your fifties or better..or never if you take better care of yourself. You get to decide if you live or die.
not at all. These symptoms are a sign of that.
You already know what to do! However, you must take one step at a time to avoid overwhelming yourself.
1. See your physician regarding your palpitations (irregular heartbeat). Read about palpitations at http://www.mayoclinic.com/health/heart-p... You must first rule out cardiopathy (heart disease) before you take any other action. If your physician is concerned, he/she will refer you to a cardiologist for testing.
2. Stop smoking. You are very young and even if you have smoked for years, it is easier to stop now. Talk to your physician about the many ways to stop, including those that use antidepressants (Wellbutrin), nicotine patches, etc.
3. Exercise. This may mean walking 30 minutes 3-5 times a week. Start slowly and you will be less discouraged. Don't look for immediate weight loss. A sign of progress is that you should have more energy and your clothes will fit better. Do not start an exercise program until you know your palpitations are not caused by pathology.
4. Caffeine? You don't mention how much, or how, you consume caffeine. If you drink coffee, make it half-coffee, half-milk and limit yourself to 2-3 cups daily. If you drink soda...stop.
5. Support system. Friends, relatives, neighbors, co-workers. Someone who can encourage you when you're frustrated and want to return to your harmful habits. Someone who can tell you, if you slip up, that it isn't the end.
Take care of yourself! It is easier to make these changes at 20 than at 40, when every problem you have now will be twice as worse.
