I was informed that it is another word for a stroke. However when I looked up the info on google the symptoms that are listed are NOT what my friends mother had when she died not too long ago. Something is strange with her death as the doctor would not perform an autopsy because her husband would not sign for it. The symptoms that she had was that she felt extremely hot, and that she was having a hard time to breathe. Her husband took over an hour to call 911. What do you think? Does this sound strange to anyone else?

hard to commit to anything based on what you said. cerebrovascular accident is indeed a term for "stroke" but more appropriately called cerebrovascular disease.
we cannot say with certainty what your friend's mom died of. it takes a detailed examination of the circumstances around the demise of the patient for us to get some idea of what she probably suffered. i'm sure your friend might have been confused at that time and she may not reliably describe what really happened.
if your friend really has to have that degree of closure regarding her mother's cause of death, she can probably get a court order and ask the state to do the autopsy
