Question:
i just got over having mono a little over a week ago. i really want to get out of the house since i havent been for over a month. i heard you cant do physical sports or anything straining for a while. i wanted to walk around at the state fair and wasnt allowed, and today i was invited to go water tubing but again was not allowed. i was also invited for next weekend, but i was wondering how long after you are better do you have to wait to do activities such as these. i know tubing can be tiring on the arms but i dont see how it is ok for me to babysit or have to clean the house like my parents asked but not be allowed to do fun activities too, because they are too tiring? i guess my question is how long until you can resume regular activities, because i feel fine.?
Answers:
You feel fine because you haven't been doing much lately.
Sports or strenuous activity are a bad idea, since many mono patients have an enlarged spleen. If the spleen was damaged during the sports, you'd need surgery.
I had mono when I was in my early 20's. It took a full MONTH before I was back to my "pre-mono" level of activity.
Best of luck.
