well anal sex is not necessarily healthy, but it won't do much harm if performed correctly, not sure about any sites but i'm sure you can find a couple reference sites on google.com, however when it comes to infections, i'm sure infections can happen because of leftover stool, but it's not like an STD or anything, it can cause maybe a UTI, however if you use a condom there shouldn't be any risk of any kind of infection, but do realize that the condom can break if inserted anally, if you're using toys just make sure you clean it really well and sterilize after every use.
Anal sex is not healthy for anyone. The anal canal has no natural lubrication and the tissue is very fragile. Anal sex can lead to tears or fissures which can leave a portal for infection (bacteria or viruses).
If you do decided to participate in that, take precautions. Use condoms and a lot of water-based lubricant. The person performing needs to thoroughly wash his penis (or if you use a vibrator) before and after the act.
