How do i get rid of my head lice?

Question:
I'v noticed that i had lice about 2 weeks going on 3 weeks ago now but that is just when i noticed so i dont know if i'v had them longer. My head is itchy a lot but has been less itchy as of late. However, when i go in a pool it seems like my head is immediatly itchy. Is that the chlorine or something?I have applied the lice shampoo (ex: RID) 3 times now and i use the comb that comes with it after each. I feel as if the shampoo is killing all of the live head lice but the nits just wont go away. We spent almost an hour yesterday using the gel and combing but i looked today and i still found some nits/eggs today. I am absolutley sick of theses buggers and want them out. Shaving my head however is out of the question. HELP!!

Any chemical that kills pests is a pesticide, and all pesticide based products have the potential to cause serious harm. Please do not place them on your highly permeable scalp.

Try to get yourself a natural head lice remedy, one that contains Neem Oil. The Neem tree is native to India, is known as the ‘Cure All’ tree and has been used as a natural insecticide for thousands of years. When you mix this with other natural ingredients that kill both lice and nits you have a totally safe treatment.

If you want to suffocate the live lice, coat your hair in baby oil mixed with Neem oil, put on a showercap and leave it on overnight. Put on a sweatband to stop the drips. This will suffocate them and also Neem Oil renders them unable to reproduce. This means they will never be able to build up a resistance.

In the morning straighten your hair with hair straighteners to pop the nits. Repeat this in 7 days to catch any nits that hatch that you missed. Use mousse or hairspray every day to simulate 'dirty' hair which lice find hard to attach to.

We got hold of a book called 'Live Lice Free - The Head Lice Handbook.' This had everything we needed to know to get rid of head lice as well as many other natural remedies. Their personal remedy worked for us first time and killed all the nits and lice.

Hope this helps.
Your right that the knits are the most important part to get out. What you should do is put oil in your hair and put it in a showercap. Leave it in for a while and then comb out as many of the knits as you can. Then shower and put more oil in. Keep repeating this untill your sure that they are all gone. If there is but one little egg left, your gonna have a headful, that's why it's important to get them all out. Head lice like clean scalps, so putting the oil in your hair will discourage laying eggs and it will make it easier to comb them out.
Not to sound crazy. But in my Health class my teacher said that she read in a magazine that you can put Mayonaise in your hair leave it for a minute then wash it out. That should do it
all u need to do is shave ur head. everything will die and u will have normal hair once again after it grows back.
Well, what your doing my dear is giving them to any, and everyone, around you. Do they know you have lice, are they still your friends or, do they come near you.

If you've had them this long your missing something, you may have to at least trim your hair so you can get at them better, you have to get the nit otherwise everything your doing is for naught.
Have you ever seen on of these under a microscope? you'd run screaming. Now, your going to have to do something to get rid of them, stop and go over everything again and consider at least thinning and cutting your hair. Tell everyone it's because of the heat.
You need a better quality lice comb. Look for the LiceMeister. I know Walgreens drug store carries it. It will do a much better job removing nits than one of those cheap combs. I paid $12 for mine at least five years ago, but it lasts forever.
