Answers:
No it is not a 100% chance. Most things in the medical "world" are never 100%.

Herpes can be transmitted while an outbreak is occuring AND when one isn't (asymptomatic viral shedding). One study showed that 70% of sexual transmissions occured while no symptoms were present.[1]

Of new infections, approximately 60% are asymptomatic (no symptoms) and 40% symptomatic. Of the symptomatic group, about 80% present with typical genital symptoms and signs, while 20% have atypical presentations including genital pain, urethritis, cervicitis, and aseptic meningitis (which are all well-recognized complications of first episodes of genital HSV infection).[2]

Most individuals will seroconvert (create antibodies that the tests look for) within 3-6 weeks; by 12 weeks more than 70% will have seroconverted [3,4]

Don't be afraid to go to the doctor. We are talking about your health and this is something that your doctor sees probably multiple times a week. HSV is a very common infection. In the U.S. there are about 1,640,000 HSV-2 seroconversions yearly (730,000 men and 910,000 women, or about 8.4 per 1000 persons)[5]. THATS A LOT!!!

Having an STI is nothing to be ashamed about. And you may not even have it! If you experience NO symptoms I would wait for 4 or 5 months and then get a test (using condoms until then, and after to prevent you from worrying again).

If you experience any symptoms I suggest you see a doctor right away. There is medicine out there that can decrease the amount of outbreaks you get, decrease the chance that you will infect someone when you are not showing symptoms.

Hope this helps
go to the doc, more than likely u do.u can still contract it even if he doesnt have visiable signs.
I would say that you have a fairly good chance of getting it. Go see your doctor.
There is a very slight chance you didnt' contract the disease. Yet, it is possible. Even though he doesn't appear to have a breakout it is still transmittable. IF you go to the doctor's office and ask them to write it down in the confidential box at the top of their records they will do that. You can also call various hotlines for herpes. Just look on Google for some and they can assist you. It depends on if he has mouth herpes or genital. If it's mouth, then you can still catch it but there's a chance you can't, but if it's genital then i would be a little worried. Yet, there have been accounts of people who have unprotected sex with HIV-infected partners and they dont' have it. It is believed that some are immune to HIV, even if they're not those hybrid prostitutes in Africa. Herpes can be the same way. Check with your doctor or call a hotline.
I'm going to have to agree with B.J. C on this one. First off, I hope you learned from this experience. So, you should take some steps in the future to start protecting yourself. Weather that be with condoms, or asking the person of their sexual history, or when the last time they got tested.
On a personal level.I was dating a girl for about for about 4 months, and I had an outbreak. This freaked me out because we had been having unprotected sex as well. I didn't even know I had herpes until I had this outbreak. Looking back, I was overlooking some of the symptoms of herpes and didn't even know it. So, I knew it wasn't her who gave it to me. Long story short was that she got blood tested several times over a several month period and she recently told me she was clean. So, I WAS HAPPY!
So, go to your doctor, as for a blood test that can test for both herpes type 1 and herpes type 2. Tell your doctor when the last time you had sex w/ that person, as I think you'll probably have to get tested again just to make sure. I'm not sure on the time frame, but I think if you aren't showing any symptoms, it would take some amount of time for it to show up in your blood(Not an expert so ask your doctor).
In the meantime, read up on herpes and their symptoms. You can check for a possible outbreak as well. Cause if you have an outbreak, or what appears to be one you can get that swab tested. Best of luck to you and let us all know how it goes.
