I took this drug some years ago for help with pain in a nervous system disorder, and though it's a less usual side effect, it did cause me to have hot flushes.
What actually made me stop taking it, however, was the hallucinations and nightmares it gave me.
i used to but had to change to another cos of my hot flushes got really bad and embarrassin
Possible side effects of the anti-depressant Amitripyline are sometimes fast heart rate, blurred vision, urinary retention, dry mouth, constipation, weight gain or loss, and low blood pressure on standing. Rash, hives, seizures, and hepatitis are rare side effects.
My father in law was on these a few years ago ( after a leg amputation) and the symptoms he had was hallucinations and really bad dreams and a fast heart rate.
He didn't have hot flushes though but it can affect some people like that.
He's stopped taking them and now doesn't have any of the symptons now.
I took it for two months, It had no real effect on me at all, Just helped me sleep
