Heart problems?

Question:
i have a friend with a Heart valve replacement he is 45 he seems fine however he is always has a lite cough sounds like he clearing his lungs. Do you think this is water build up in the lungs due to Heart failing??

Answers:
Usually with fluid build up in the lungs patients have a hard time catching their breath and tire easily. Yes there can be fluid in the lungs but most first signs are tiredness. Stopping to catch your breath. Heart failure depending on what side can accumulate fluid in the lower extremities as well, do his ankles swell?? Has he gained a weight as in water weight. Those are also signs of heart failure. There is an easy simple blood test called a BNP that can determine if he has heart failure.
Heart Valve replacement is major surgery, the doctors would know if he had heart failure at that time. Trust me they would know just from that surgery.
It maybe congestive heart failure. He should bring it to the attention of his cardiologist. This does not mean his heart is failing, it means there maybe fluid collecting.
Looks like laryngitis, sometimes following intubation during surgery.
