Been on Prevacid for 8 yrs quit cold turkey 5 days ago. Having rebound heartburn but can tolerate it for now. I am not sure how long it will take to come out of my system or if there are any other withdrawls I should be aware of? Thank you

The half life of prevacid is somewhere around 2 hours, but the acid inhibitory effect lasts on the order of 24 hrs..
If you were on it for a prolonged period of time for GERD (reflux), and you are getting heartburn again, I would talk to your primary doc or gastroenterologist about resuming the medication as I am sure you are aware that persistent reflux and chronic esophagitis is related to premalignant and malignant changes in your esophagus.
