Are there any Crohn's pts. taking Humira for fistulas?
Question:
PS: I am a Crohnie & am looking at options I was given.
Answers:
I too am suffering from fistula's (I have several). I have just spoken with my Gastro guy and he has suggested Humira and upon conclusion of all my testing I may be going to it.
However; my brother, a fellow crohnie, has informed me that Humira has a side effect of lymphnod cancer and has a friend who has been diagnosed as such, so now I plan to do a lot more research.
I have done the remicade in the past and was successful with it but now the doctors feel that I will most likely not respond to it this round.
It's all very confusing isn't it.
I wish you all the luck in the world.
I also have Crohn's.. but I take Asocol (mesalamine). I've taken my med for around 3 years now. I have noticed mild joint pain - but that could be due to just getting older too.
It appears Humira is for rheumatoid arthritis. After reading the link about it.. I'd be wary about taking it.
Why isn't your doctor prescribing a more commonly use medication for Crohn's?
FOLLOW UP: Ahhh.. okay. When I was having extreme problems, I was prescribed massively expensive enemas that had to remain in all night (yeah.. TMI, I know). They seemed to help me heal up. But I forget the name of the medication. :( Good luck!
