Dehydration and blood pressure?

Question:
Just wondering if when you're dehydrated if your blood pressure goes up? I've been light headed and very little urine output and dark urine at that!

Answers:
Blood is mostly made up of water. If you're dehydrated you will have a lower blood volume. A lower blood volume will decrease the amount of blood pressure. Just imagine filling a closed container with gas or liquid and you should be able to understand the relationship between volume and pressure.

Lightheadedness can be caused by low blood pressure because their is not enough blood getting to your brain. High blood pressure would give you a headache due to the pressure exerted on your brain.

Low urine output is due to your body's response to low levels of water and blood volume. The higher the blood and water volume, the more hormones that are released to signal your kidneys to get rid of water. And the opposite goes for low blood volume.

The reason your urine is dark could be caused by a lot of things, but in this case it could be caused by low amounts of water to dilute it.

Hope this helps you understand whats going on and how one thing can cause multiple things to happen in your body.
I think that it does. When your body doesn't have enough hydration, your blood may thicken, causing a higher blood pressure.

Try to drink 6-8 glasses of water a day.
you shouldn't get a high blood pressure but instead a low blood pressure.

"Reduced blood volume, called hypovolemia, is the most common mechanism producing hypotension. This can result from hemorrhage, or blood loss; insufficient fluid intake, as in starvation; or excessive fluid losses from diarrhea or vomiting. Hypovolemia is often induced by excessive use of diuretics. (Other medications can produce hypotension by different mechanisms.)"
now you need to drink some water, slowly, yes as you dehydrate you blood gets thicker , your more apt to get blood clots and it may effect your blood pressure so start drinking, Water ( Don't make me come down there)
When you become dehydrated, there is less fluid intake. It makes your body conserve water, which means blood volume goes down - causing low blood pressure.

Low blood pressure can cause several things, in your case it means your body is not getting enough blood to your brain - which is the cause of your light headedness.

Your kidneys are also trying to compensate by conserving water. Your urine is darker because it is more concentrated.

Rehydrate slowly because severe dehydration can actually have permanent detrimental effect.
