Who has?????

No i dont have s.v.t. (supraventricular tachycardia) but i work in healthcare and see it often. This is a condition that causes the heart to race to a rate of at least 150. This causes you to have shortness of breath and lightheadedness, as well as many other symptoms. The initial treatment when this occurs is to try vagal maneuvers. An example of this would be to blow into an occluded strawl or to bear down like you are trying to have a bowel movement. There are medications that can instantly be given through an iv to instantly try and correct the condition. There are medications that you could take daily if you have this problem frequently. There are also surgical interventions that involve using a laser to help correct the problem. In any case you should follow up with a cardiologist. I hope this helps. Good luck
PSVT? yes I was diagnosed 4 years ago. There are meds and procedures. Good Luck
SVT, as described above, is a fast heart rate. I don't have it, but I've seen it. First, we ask you to bear down like your going to poop. Then, if that doesn't work, we give you whats called 'Adenosine'. It stops your heart, for up to 30 seconds (don't worry, the drug doesn't last long in yout system.) It's considered 'chemical cardioversion' and it's like pressing 'ctrl-alt-delete' on your computer, it resets your heart, or should. You'll be awake, and you'll feel it, but you DO NOT die. If that doesn't work, they may or may not try again. If you start feeling sick, they may stop with one dose, or skip it entirely and electrically cardiovert you. With this they attach pads to your chest, synch the machine to your heartbeat, give you drugs so you don't remember, and pass electricity through your heart to do, basically, what the medication was supposed to do. They use both methods because drugs, although not a 'sure thing' as less traumatic for people. However, since they don't always work, and electricty does, they still use that as well.
You can go have an ablasion done if your SVT is caused by extra pathways in your heart, which is basically where they go into your heart and burn the extra pathways. It is an easy procedure, much like a cardiac cath.
