Should the govt standardise the cost of treatments in private hospitals / institutes in India…?

Question:
The private hospitals have become hardcore commercial units… where there are no limits and scale or unit based on which they calculate the cost for treatments…
There is a vast difference between the cost of treatments charged by hospitals like Escorts, Apollo, Fortice, Max and other hospitals in India…
For angioplasty where one hospital charges 250,000/- the other hospitals charge less then half of that… and the infrastructure and the expertise used by all of them for a particular ailment are almost same…
Charging 250,000 for angioplasty is unjustified and against humane ethos by any angle…
All such charges for ailments are required to be standardised…

Answers:
yes, the govt should take measures to standardise the fees for surgeries in all pvt hospitals.concession should be given for those who r not afford to pay.at the same time ordinary consultation ,registration etc could be done at free of cost.
Yes. It must be done. The govt. must standardise the cost for the treatments in private hospitals.
Yes there should be some check on the ever spiraling charges of private hospitals. Today a majority of the population cannot afford treatments as they are very expensive. Lives are lost because of this and this has to be controlled.

On the other hand, prices of equipment are also on the rise. Most of the equipment are imported and thus carry a huge price tag. Hospitals such as Apollo, Fortice, etc are constantly upgrading their equipment and this adds to the cost of the treatment. After all you want to live after the treatment.
Yes. However the costs would have to be fixed on the basis of the quality of treatment and the facilities provided by each institution which may vary greatly.
